Congratulations! The fact that you’re reading this likely means that you have reason to believe that a woman from the Philippines is into you. It’s an amazing feeling for sure, but it’s completely natural to sense a bit of anxiety as well. How sure can you be that she’s flirting with you and not just being friendly? Here are six clear signs that a Filipina likes you:
- She starts becoming protective of you
- She wants to introduce you to her family
- She is comfortable enough around you to laugh at your corniest jokes
- She’s overly sticky – even when you’re trying to keep your distance
- She asks you out (a bold move for a Filipina)
- You are the topic of her gossip
I’ll explain each of these 6 points in more detail in a moment, but first, here are my credentials for being able to write such a detailed guide:
- I dated a handful of Filipino women when I was single
- I still have Filipina friends today (and they talk)
- I have many Caucasian guy friends who are married to women from the Philippines
- I’ve traveled to the Philippines many times
I may be whiter than white bread, but I do know quite a bit about the psychology of Filipino women. if there was anything that I learned from my single days, these sings were somewhat tricky to decipher.
eHarmony is one of the best places online to meet single Filipino women who are looking for meaningful relationships.
- The initial screening process is thorough, so you won't have to worry about being scammed.
- You will automatically be matched with women who are most compatible for you.
- No more endless (soul-crushing) swiping!
6 very strong signs that a Filipina likes you
Filipino culture is all about the expression of love and the importance of family. This is very much in contrast to western culture. Especially US culture, which is mostly about individualism and crushing everyone in your path to get to the top.
Since being friendly is a core part of Filipino culture, it’ll be a little difficult for most Western guys to figure out. Is she just being nice? Or does she really like you? Here’s how to tell:
1. She starts becoming protective of you
This is by far and away one of the clearest signs that a Filipina likes you. If you notice that she starts becoming overly concerned for your health and well-being, it’s a very clear sign that she thinks very highly of you.
Remember: people from the Philippines put family first, and will drop everything going on in their lives to protect and help close family members.
- When she starts checking in on you to make sure you’re happy and healthy, she likes you.
- If she brings you food on a regular basis, she likes you.
- If she brings you gifts, she definitely likes you.
Important: you must reciprocate this. Ignoring her love and affection is very much going to turn her off, so don’t be an idiot. Be thankful (and grateful) that she thinks so highly of you.
2. She introduces you to her family
If a Filipino woman is eager to introduce you to her family, it’s highly likely that she’s trying to get the approval of her family to continue seeing you. This is a major sign that she really likes you. As a matter of fact, it’s something that you must expect when dating a Filipina.
Of all the items on this list, this is without a doubt the most honorable. The fact that she considers you to be a good enough guy to seek the approval of her family means things are getting serious.
And if you’ve ever had any doubt about whether or not that she liked you up until this point, being introduced to her family ought to seal the deal.
3. She laughs at all your jokes (even the really stupid ones)
To be honest, a woman who laughs at your jokes (no matter where she came from) is pretty clear sign that she’s into you. However, it’s a little different with Filipinas.
You have to remember that Filipino women are very traditional and not as outgoing compared to women from western cultures. More often than not, it will take them a little bit longer to open up and become comfortable with you.
If you ever notice her suddenly smiling and laughing at all your corny jokes (more than usual that is) it’s a pretty good sign that she really likes you.
4. She just won’t go away – no matter how bad you mess up
If you’re friends with a woman from the Philippines and you did something really bad (like forget her birthday or some other really important event), and she forgives you for it almost immediately – she likes you.
If you do this multiple times, and she still contacts you out of the blue to talk and hang out, she’s really into you. It also means that you’re an a**hole, and she probably deserves better. Just sayin’.
Pro tip: if you are the kind of guy who regularly pushes women away and often forgets really important dates, being with a woman from the Philippines isn’t the best idea. Instead of worrying about knowing all the signs that a Filipina likes you, you need to be honest with yourself and understand that your casual approach to love and relationships doesn’t jive well with Filipino culture.
5. She asks you out
If you ever find yourself in a situation where a Filipina asks you out (for a drink, for coffee, out to a movie, or whatever) it’s a very clear sign that she likes you. This is because of what I said earlier about women who are born and raised in the Philippines being more traditional (passive) than western women.
In the Philippines, it’s usually the men that drive the beginning stages of a relationship.
If a Filipina has the courage to approach a man and ask him out, it’s a pretty big deal. Even if all she wants to do is hang out and get coffee. It goes against everything she was taught, and by doing so, it shows her drive and determination to get closer to you.
Warning: If she seems too interested in the right from the beginning, it could be a sign that she is trying to scam you. Take things slow, and pay attention to what is really happening.
6. She talks about you to her friends
Gossip (with you being the primary subject of said gossip) is a very clear sign that a Filipina is interested in you. And chances are, it won’t take long to find out if it’s actually happening or not.
Filipino women like to gossip, and if your circle of friends is close and tight enough, chances are good that rumors of these discussions will come back to you in some way.
In my single years, I met a Filipino girl online named Min. She lived in the same (big) city that I did, and we were starting to talk about meeting for ice cream soon. I’ve always been shy and timid, so I wasn’t as eager to do it as she was.
The conversation ended without making any definite plans, and I thought that was that. Two days later, a Filipino woman that I worked with at the time took me aside and quietly asked me if I knew a girl named “Min”.
OMG. That was the moment that I realized that Filipino women gossip like none other. Long story short, she told me that Min really liked me and that she was frustrated that I didn’t want go out with her.
She then went on to tell me about how Filipino women chat and gossip about the guys they like. And when that happens…it’s getting serious.
The most important piece of advice:
No matter what happens, you have to take advantage of any sign that you see.
Past experience has taught me that they move on real quick once they sense that a guy isn’t interested. I blew it – multiple times.
Next steps:
- Once a relationship has been established, it’s time to learn about what to expect when marrying a Filipina.
- If that doesn’t scare you off, be sure you understand the reasons why Filipinas marry foreigners. Spoiler alert: love isn’t always the number one priority.
